    A Consumer Led Economy

The travel, tourism and leisure industry is going through a period of major changes and will soon look very different. The sector is feeling the impact of a trend that’s here to stay: the shift to the consumer-led economy where guests call the shots.

Grant Thornton combines technical knowledge and global reach with deep industry knowledge and local market understanding, to help you to navigate the complexities in the environment to benefit from the return to growth.

With 36 million consumers across the six countries of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) and 400 million in the overall MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region – the tourism market is currently worth US $1.6 trillion. In addition, regional tourism is expanding faster than global tourism, at 5%.

Bahrain has been selected as Arabian Capital of Culture (2012), Capital of Arab Tourism (2013) and Capital of Asian Tourism (2014); which is proof of the Kingdom’s status as a regional and international visitor hub. The Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) is developing a new passenger terminal at Bahrain International Airport, to cater to increasing aviation needs.

    Services We Offer

We use the same tools, methodologies, training and standards across geographies to ensure consistency and cohesion. And our scale and depth means we have credible teams in all jurisdictions.

    Transportation, Logistics, Warehousing and Distribution

Shifting regulations, tax changes, new technology demands, consolidation and shrinking margins are among the issues confronting companies involved in supply chain management. Grant Thornton’s Transportation, Logistics, Warehousing and Distribution practice provides valuable, cost-saving solutions.

Transportation: Our Transportation team works with companies in the trucking, airline, maritime, railroad and intermodal sectors, advising on critical issues such as hours-of-service regulations and fuel efficiency standards.

Logistics: The Logistics team focuses on helping organizations manage the efficient storage and shipment of goods, keeping a close eye on emerging technologies, tax issues and government regulation.

Warehousing: Our Warehousing team helps companies better manage inventory, with knowledge of emerging industry trends, like IT developments, the use of robotics, improving inventory turnover and other cost-saving measures.

Distribution: The Distribution team helps organizations address existing and emerging issues, including the greater use of technology and data, third-party risk, repair regulations, and the growing threat of disintermediation.
